Case Studies
Actual accounts of benefits gained through the implementation of competitive manufacturing systems and processes are an excellent motivator for other companies to start the CMI journey.

Success stories on this website are published with the agreement of the company and consultants involved.

  • Case Study 1: SCA Te Rapa - Tissue Converting - June 2007
Training in TPM principles and application in the workplace led to annual savings of $ 635,000 and eliminating a bottleneck that had led to tensions between work teams. More importantly staff now believe that they can make a real difference to company performance.
  • Case Study 2: Juken New Zealand Kaitaia - July 2007
Implementing competitive manufacturing over a number of years has reduced downtime by a fifth, increased OEE (overall equipment efficiency) by a third and achieved a 100% customer delivery rate. More importantly employees are keen to take on further improvements and the appropriate systems are in place to do so.
  • Case Study 3: Kapiti Fine Foods
Focussing on productivity improvement with the assistance of NZITO in three target areas and involving the entire workforce resulted in substantial improvements in line efficiency (20%), changeover time (40%) and meeting cut-off times (20%) within a short period.
